In a society of nutrient depleted food sources, and poor dietary selection practices, determination of individual nutrient deficiencies and repletion with specific therapeutic doses of vitamins and minerals appears to have promise in restoring and maintaining health. Further studies on vitamin and mineral supplementation targeting disease specific states should be conducted using this model since treatment can be initiated precisely, and objective follow up data can be combined and correlated with clinical findings.
