Aeromonas spp. has become increasingly recognized as enteric pathogens. These organisms cause acute diarrhoea in children and adults and sporadic diarrhoea or dysentery in those older than 60 years, which can be severe and even life threatening. However, today, these are also responsible for causing gastroenteritis outbreaks in humans and traveler’s diarrhea.
